Hello guys,

After returning from my trip I was so excited to see the photos I took, but the CF appears to be dead/broken. I have tried numerous software recovery programs like photorecovery, photorescue, etc. None of it works. Apparently it cannot read/write to the card anymore. Also, now the card will not even read or format on my 5D. Is there anything else that I can do or should I just take the loss on this one? Please advice. Thanks.

Did you put the CF card into an external Card Reader?

AND, can you see the image previews while the card is in the camera?

If so, try connecting the camera to the computer via the USB cable and transferring them that way.

I had this happen on my 40D (while on vacation) a few times, the last couple of shots were corrupted as I let the card fill. I was able to recover them each time (then I got smart and replaced the card when it got down to 4 shots left...)

Did you put the CF card into an external Card Reader? yeah I did, I'm trying that software right now and it's going to be done overnight.

AND, can you see the image previews while the card is in the camera? No I cannot anymore, it wont even read or write on the card.

I will keep an update tomorrow. Thanks!
