I was looking at buying a grip for my 30D and I wanted to know if any of you had used the opteka one.
Thanks for the input

There are a ton of people that use Opteka grips, I just happen to prefer the Canon one. The third market grips feel really cheap to me.

I've got the Opteka grip on my XT and 40D. No problems.

Well I just called my local camera store and they price matched for me at 175, minus the battery. So I will be picking up the Canon one Saturday morning. :)

The BG is not a good place to go third party.

Well I just picked up my Canon BG less than 2 hours ago :)
Likes: I like that it feels really nice and solid. It also has the very useful "scroll" button that I use for aperture in AP mode or shutter or whatever. I can also still reach the command dial very comfortably, which is of course mandatory for Manual Mode. It feels so much better to shoot in portrait mode. However I still feel a little awkward holding it vertically, my hand trembles noticeably in the viewfinder. Can anyone tell me their style of holding the 30D in portrait mode with the grip?
Dislikes: I am not so sure about the "select all focus points" button, because I use the little joystick to choose the center focus point. It seems like it would be really easy to press this button because its right next to the * button which I love to use for focus. The problem lies in the fact that I cannot readily reach that small joystick to reset to the center focus point. This may be a problem when I quickly whip up the camera for a shot. Does anyone know how to disable this "select all focus points" button?
