I spent last week in Laughlin, Nevada. I didn't care for the city at all, so I spent most of my time on the other side of the Colorado River in Arizona. One place I had been wanting to visit for a couple years now is Oatman, a tiny gold mining town in northern Arizona. Their two main claims to fame are: 1) Historic Route 66 goes right through the center of town -- in fact, it's the only paved road in town (and not very well paved at that). 2) A bunch of wild burros live in the area and come into town during the day to mooch carrots from the tourists. Here are the burros:

They just wander around, right in the middle of the street. Sometimes even into the shops along the road.

Here's one getting a carrot.

This woman made the mistake of walking up the street with a large bag of carrots. The burros wouldn't leave her alone.

I was down in your part of the world over Christmas. Unfortunately it rained like a motha' for a good part of my trip. I saw a newscast showing footage from Sedona Arizona and I was confused.... I thought it was tsunami footage.

Nice series. I can tell they have some very nice asses down there (:o sorry!).

They're proud of their asses over there! Here's one of the store fronts:

Nice shots. So what exactly do they do if they wander into a store that is open. That would be just too funny.

They shout at it and shoo it out. I was in the Oatman Hotel lobby when one wandered in. The woman at the check-in desk shouted "Get out of here!" then ran out from behind the counter to push the burro back outside onto the sidewalk. It was hilarious...

BTW, the Oatman Hotel is where Clark Gable and Carole Lombard spent their honeymoon night. It is no longer a functioning hotel. Now, the upstairs part (where their honeymoon room is located) is a museum. Unfortunately they were renovating it while I was there, so I didn't get to see that. The lower level houses a couple small gift shops, and the old check-in desk area is a snack bar.
