As I was driving on Route 66 just north of Oatman, Arizona, something on the side of the hill caught my eye:

Canon EOS 20D, Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8L @ 24mm, 1/250s, f/7.1, ISO 100

I put the longer lens on the camera for a closer look:

Canon EOS 20D, Canon EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L @ 400mm, 1/320s, f/6.3, ISO 100

Looks like someone couldn't quite negotiate the turn in the highway above. I wonder if anyone was hurt...

Wow! Great pics! I wonder if it was staged or real? I am sure though that if you look hard enough you can find some pretty weird things. I would love to go back and drive it in the old days. :)

Good question. I just assumed it was an old accident scene, but Sandy could be right. Maybe someone just pushed an old car off the highway to get rid of it. I've certainly found a lot of strange things out in the desert. There's an active gold mine near this point (it's for sale too, if you happen to have $1.6 million laying around). I should have asked the people there.
