Had a PowerShot A70 for almost two years now and was pretty happy with it, until recently it started acting up somewhat.
Sometimes the 'on'-button won't respond and thus the camera won't start up. Very frustrating, because, obviously, I only turn it on when I want to take a picture.
Pressing the housing, taking out the batteries or the Flash Card or simply shaking it sometimes helps, but not always.
Canon Netherlands weren't any help and they charge a fixed fee of 120 euros for simply looking at it althoug they guarantee it will be fixed for that price), while a new A70 goes for 200 euros...
So my questions for the forum are as follows:
- has anyone encountered this particular problem before?
- is there something I can do other than sending it in?
- would cleaning the camera (inside or out) help?
- if cleaning helps, does anyone have a how-to sort of thing?
I guess it won't hurt to take it apart, because it's only an 80 euros risk I'm taking if I can't put it back together.
Greetings,
Peter.
