Hey, I feel I have out done this forum a bit (I don't mean spamming) :p

I feel I have sort of gained what I need from the technical forums (I can always check back here for information... I think all the information I need is already here so searching will do) and I am wasting my time here a bit too much. Maybe it's just forum burnout or something... I just want to get out there and shoot. Not worry about others opinions etc.

This forum is great, but I feel I have become a bit addicted to it... I'm taking a break (from this forum).

Anyone else experience forum burnout?

No...what, you mean you're actually going to leave? I'm not sure that's allowed! ;)

No, but thats because I've imposed limits on myself.

I visit several gear forums daily, but never look beyond the first page of threads.

It allows me to stay up to date on any breaking news but I don't spend my life in front of a computer.

Forum burnout? Or just burnout on some discussions? Even if I don't post for a while I continue to "lurk about" for information or to see what is new. Sometimes I don't post because I don't have anything of value to really post at the time. Some topics get so overdone that it gets irritating, but its simple to avert one's eyes. ;)

The forum will be here when you're ready to come back to it. Sometimes we just need a break.

As some governernor of some place once said:

"I'll be back."

or I'll just "lurk"... which is a good idea.

:D

Arnold Schwarzenegger said that in Terminator. He is now the governor of California, so I guess you're right.

Douglas MacArthur said, "I shall return," when the Japanese chased him out of the Philippines. He did (with a lot of help).

Not just terminator. ;)

I heard something about MacArthur, but wasn't sure what situation that was in. Interesting. :D

I feel like this regularly. I'll spend hours a day for weeks reading and posting etc., then get all over it and go away for days/weeks at a time, get bored and come back. That's the beauty of it - it's here for you to contribute to or use as much or little as you like.

be careful about those withdrawal symptoms. Breaking heroin addiction is a breeze...compared to POTN addiction.

I'll say!!... uhm, not that it's happened to me. To a good friend of mine it did. Yeah, that's it. A friend of mine.

Anyhow. ;)

I think that going to take more photos is a very good goal and reason to lessen your forum time. Personally, I like to post whenever I am sitting around waiting for edits for my own work, etc. I would not trade my camera or any other piece of gear for a chance to sit in a chair and post here all day long.

Not that I would not want to, it just would defeat the purpose of a Photographer's Forum. Once the photos stop and only the posting is left, things can get a bit interesting.

I am not complaining against those who average 40-60 posts per day (not at all), but rather saying to myself that taking photos is probably the only thing better than hanging out with other photographers, and talking about anything, from techniques to critiques and gear.

The way I see it, it's like any other forum about doing something. You can't photograph, or drive your car, or surf, or whatever, 24 hours a day. When you can, do, when you can't do it, talk about it. :)

574 posts is not enough to qualify for a break

Enjoy your holiday. :)

Do everything in moderation. Get your ninja butt out and use your camera.......there are those who talk and there are those who do.
