these men had parts as saxons in the film 'King Arthur'
which is out in the cinema's a few months now
(think it may be a flop from what I have read about it, not too sure)http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif
(period 450 AD )
it was filmed on the mountains not too far from here last year
(so if you happen to see the film watch out for the scenery )
I got a few shots while they were between takes
http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif
what a sight to see some of them walking around the roadway
I had no idea the film was being made there , just saw them when passing
even saw a saxon using his mobile phone http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif
(saxaphone)
they were really pleasant to chat to for a few minutes
it was near dusk
the place is called Hollywoodhttp://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif
but it's a tiny little village squashed in between the beautiful mountain scenery.

they were really tired wearing the animal skins
and waiting around in between takes

Excellent! I love the circa 1,000AD Saxon on teh cell phone! :)
But it's the big guy thats all cuddly! :)
Yes,. the film industry is is exasperating in it's steady pace of "hurry up and wait".... one really must have patience.
Great shots....
I'll rent the DVD... ;)

Marie, Nice shots of these ancient looking Saxons. The detail in the first shot is superb. :D :D :D
CDS, Didn't they have cell phones in 1000 AD?

Nice shots. That first guy looks like Gimli the dwarf in the Lord Of The Rings movies to me.
That saxon with a cell phone must be ordering a pizza for King Arthur... from Roundtable pizza of course!

(saxaphone):)
 . Does that make him a saxonophonist ? :-)
Like the beard on the saxon in the first picture - looks like maybe a place where some of the resident bird photographers on this forum might find a nest :-) :-) :-)
I'll keep an eye out for the movie.

Marie, these guys all look like members of my family.
Where did the guys come from, it looks like the Saxon on the phone might be this guy:

Cyber, Bruce , Mega, Mark, Steve, jetmech, Sandy ,Charlesu , Agaric, Damian Sheldon and Flyfisher
very many thanks for all the nice replies.
the fellow with the mobile was much smaller in stature then the fellow you show here Damian.
I remember those pictures of yours . very nice capture
I was delighted to see some of you saw the film as I read so many reports saying 'not so good' . I never saw it myself (yet anyway)
there were great write ups in the newspapers (after they left) about all the people in the film and the people helping out on the ground.
done a great business locally around there
many many hundreds of people were involved
I think it was disneyland made the film
( their own version of the story)
the people in these pictures were so friendly.
even made me get into a shot or two.
planting a helmet on my head http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif
showing a few more http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif if it's ok
hope it does not interfere with anyone's computer load up
I done the odd picture bl/wh or grey Charlesuhttp://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif as you mentioned.
as regards grain I done 'edges and stuff ' and sometimes grain
but they are not great
as they were not 'great' pictures to start with.
I just happened to be passing
and was very lucky to meet these people at all
and get some shots

thanks a lot mills
http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif I used flash for most of the shots as it was getting dark
why the kids face was blown out in the picture at the top here (flash)
then I blew it out even more http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif to make it dramatic looking
as it was useless the way it was
http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif probably more useless now.
I pretended to myself that she was scared stiff of the big hairy (clothes) man when doing the ps on the picture
http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif and that it was a horror movie
