A very harmonic and most of all professional feel, I like it. Not my style, but I like it.

Have you made the site completely by yourself?

I like it a lot, except for a couple of minor points:

- The initial logo that comes up while the flash is loading is very pixelated. It would probably be better if you scaled the logo yourself in PS so it is smoother.

- I think I would like it better if the thumbnail photos were larger, because I can't make out what they are at all from the tiny thumbnail.

- I'd add buttons for previous and next picture, and a slideshow option.

- The scrollbars on the information pages do not work correctly, and it only scrolls when you release the mouse button. It should start to scroll on the button being depressed, and stop when the button is released.

Other than those minor things, that's great work. Did you develop the flash yourself?

Awesome Frederique!

Wow,. you have gone a long way in a short amount of time....

(can anyone else remember Nil's first posts of her backyard with the "G"... with the garbage can plainly visible?... ;) )

Thank you all. No, I did not do it myself. I will tell the designer your feedback. It is a template. I tried that and got poor results. I had someone do it and didn't like the results so I hired a real professional company and they did this! If you are interested they are

CDS, I love you and yes, I remember my G3 days, my GOD seems like ages. See what a little determination will get you. I have know for a long time what I wanted to do and I have kept at it. I have come a long way and have a long way to go. Thank you very much for your support over the years! Not everyone was able to follow my vision but luckily I can see in the dark. LOL

I know what you mean. Every time I try to do a website myself from scratch it just doesn't turn out like I viewed it in my head. I tried a few web templates and they work ok, but the flash templates you are using look much more professional, and you don't need to worry much about browser compatibility since all browsers support flash now.

Anyway, that is a GREAT start. A few tweaks here and there and you have an extremely professional looking site, one that would normally cost thousands to develop. I develop web sites for a living, but mostly on the dynamic programming end, not the graphical part, and the company I work for would pay around $20-30K for a site like that designed from scratch.

LOL --- OMG

Some of you may have figured out by now that Phil and I work together. We develop corporate web-sites (Sales and Marketing stuff) for a Pharmaceutical (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Pharmaceutical&spell=1) company (Go figure -- we live in NJ).

He just unit tested your site more than he tests his own code ....

Nice job Phil - Now get back to work ;)

Ok, John is not lying. I'm notorious for not unit testing my own work. But that's only because our work is not as interesting as photography.

But at least my post does not look like one of marie's....
(Not that those posts are bad, but it's her trademark, not yours)

Yea thats the most annoying for me. Also I would remove the page number 1 to the left of the thumbs until you have more than 1 page. - just a suggestion.

Its a nice site overall.

Off Topic - flyfishnj & pcasciola, which Pharmaceutical company do you work for? Just curious, im a publisher at sanofi-aventis.

Small world. I asked you in a previous post if you were going to be photographing at New Egypt or East Windsor because I worked the pits a few times for a guy named Drew who raced there in the Sportsman class. I actually live just about 15 minutes away from Englishtown, too.

No "OFF TOPIC" stuff in my thread. THIS POST IS ALL ABOUT ME!! ROFLMAO

This is a template, there is nothing that I am going to remove. That would be done by the programmer. Since it is a template, it is going to stay. It doesn't bother me having page numbers.

If you would like to see more of their work...

Great look. The only thing I don't like is the loading times for the pictures. I'm on cable, yet they
still take a couple of seconds to load. Nit picking maybe, but I thought I'd bring it up anyway. A
very professional look, all in all.

The first time I can understand the delay, but I'm not sure why it is also a little slow if you go back to a previous picture that should be cached at that point. I just asked one of the flash programmers here and he said it could be because it needs to render the "movie" which is the morphing from one picture to the next.

And, ok, no more off topic stuff here.

I think it is the flash. Thank you for bringing that up. I notice that flash sites are like that and that is why I really didn't want flash. That was all they had at the time, now they have HTML.

I had it done by bludomain, they are great.

I actually got an "an illegal operation has occured in the shockwave plugin" or something like that. By the way isnt that song copyrighted? By the way the site looks nice and professional.

NILOLIGIST
19th of January 2005 (Wed), 16:19
Yes, the song is copyrighted. Sorry you got an error. I don't know what makes a site professional but yes, I do consider my site professional. I did not do the site myself, I hired a company to do the site and logo.

Thank you all for your feedback and kind words.

I like the site. The song is nice; I like how you you don't change it all the time as the viewer navigates. I also like the muted earth tones, they make your work the real focus. btw, your fashion photography is my favorite.

Thank you. Fashion is my favorite too...If the wedding takes off much more I am going to split the site and get another site just for weddings. Then I can split the fashion into fashion and beauty.

I love my new site, it seems to have some problems with slowness but I think that is my host rather than the site.

Thanks,

Sorry, but I can't see a thing nor can I navigate anywhere on the site - some people are not permitted to use Flash, others just don't like it, especially on slow dial-up connections.

That site is nowhere close to being ADA (or W3C recommended) compliant. You should at least provide non-Flash means to navigate the site.

Minor typing error: with the 'economy headshot package' you get an 8x10" pint? Cheers mate! :)
Nice pix & design btw. Although i also would like a non-flash option...
