Down by the little branch of the Logan River today and was able to get this before it took off. I cropped it out of the center of my 20D's frame in PS. I am getting to like this camera . . . this is fun.

Nice shot indeed. Catching it on the snow seems like an unusual place.

I envy you and others that can manage to get pictures of eagles in the wild.
Great shot! :)

He might have been frozen to the spot :-)

I think it's tough to keep the detail in both the highlights and lowlights of a black and white animal.
You did a good job of it in this shot.

RJ, are you baiting them to come close, or what? Maybe you are carrying a dead rabbit around in your pocket?

Thanks guys, I finally posted something you like . . . lol. I try to shoot something every day and try to keep a camera with me all the time. Being out in the sticks helps I suppose. These birds are sticking around in greater numbers these days. It is very rare that I don't see at least a couple every day. The crop cut in PSCS made the enlargement quite stand out I think. A lot bigger and more detail than I would have thought.
This is taken with my new 20D (no dust on the sensor . . yet). I am working on owls next, or whatever fate throws my way. You can not shoot staying home, I find that if I get up and go, something will come of it. Pheasants look good in the snow as well, perhaps I will find a bunch of them.
Oh, btw check out my listing on ebay for one rabbits foot . . .

This is a rare shot, hard to get these guys in the wild. How close were you?
You can see why our the fathers of our country chose the bald eagle as our nations symbol.
