I shot this photo for a friend that wanted a different look of her beloved hydrangea. What do you think?

It's different allright!
However, I am seeing small squares that look like an extreme case of JPG compression artifacts. Please tell me I am wrong, because if that's what it is.... Wow!
If you could do a small 200 pixel x 200 pixel full detail 100% crop from the full size image, we could get a much, much better appreciation of how it looks on your system in full size -- centerline near the top would be a good place to sample. Or, if it's just as easy for you to do, host the full size image as a highest quality jpg so that we can download your original from some web host, and that would work just as well.
I think you would agree that a 415,000 pixel image is such low resolution that we cannot determine quality at all.
From what we can see here, I would say that the pattern of larger squares is destroying the appearance of the hydrangia.

My hydrangeas are in full bloom, and not to show the blue( or pink) to me is crazy.but thats just me;)

You are right. I was trying to get to cute with this project and ruined it. Here are two different versions. Hopefully these are better efforts, although I did keep one in black and white. Thanks!

Personally I prefer the original shot myself. It reminds me of a tapestry or some kind of art done on fabric. In fact, just from the view of being purely artistic, I might even try doing a "shot in the shot" with the original color version set smaller against this artist version in the background. Another thing that would work would be to print this at a fairly large size, hang it on a wall and take a picture of it with the original vase and flowers in front of the hanging image/tapestry.
Just some thoughts, but I do like the original :D.
Peace,
Jim

They each have some very good and interesting points, but speaking of "points", you have to be carefull to avoid the extreme tension brought about by touching the frame with the points of the leaves as in that last version. It has the effect of locking your eyes into those two points.
