Rebel with another flash

Is anyone using a digital Rebel with a flash other than the one that is built into the camera?

Yes, I am using the Speedlite 550EX, and would not take photos indoors without it.

I think anyone serious about photography has an external flash, depending on their financial situation. The built in flash is ok when you have nothing else, but a proper large flash is a LOT better. There's a flash sticky thread in this forum. I have a 550EX (pictured).

if you use your internal flash it wil kill your battery faster.

yup. Master is a 580ex, slave is the 420ex :)

580EX is an EX flash. . .and therefore will work on a dRebel.

Keep in mind that flash exposure is controlled by the body. . .and not the flash. . .Put a 580EX on a dRebel and it will work as anyother ETTL flash. The cool (but useless) ETTL-II specific functions won't work on a 300D.

550EX flash, which has flash exposure compensation built-in, or a 420EX flash (if you have the Russian hack to give FEC on the body) are both good choices
