Some small moths sizes 5mm, 10mm and 15mm body length respectively. I know the last one is a mint moth but don't know the ID's of the others. The first one looks like a cruise missile ready for launch :)
[EDIT] #2 ID'd as Plutella xylostella - diamond back moth

OMG Isn't there some wonderful stuff in the small world of nature? I don't know the ID either, but it should be tripod something. Great shots as usual.

Love the colorful one, even though all of them are very nice...the last one just stands out. Well done.

These are really superb Brian, especially the first two shots as these are really difficult to photograph.

The last one is one of the mint moths and I think this one is Pyrausta purpuralis

Great shots, Brian. The first 2 are fantastic. Very good photography on all images (as par for you).
Is the first one sitting on a squash or zuchinni leaf? I note the small barbs or thorns protruding, that looks like squash to me, but, I guess at that magnification, most leaves have that apperance.

Thanks for the comments all- much appreciated.
Seem to have found a moth expert on FMforums -" #1 & #2 Caloptilia - from the photo it looks like Caloptilia azaleella. Its larvae mine the leaves of azaleas." Last shot ID.d as Pyrausta aurata
Makes sense- it was very near some azaleas.

Rab - leaf in #1 is a giant bi-annual echium - they have very hairy leaves

Brian
You might want to recheck the ID on the Pyrausta - I had both of mine confirmed on a moth website 2 years ago. Yours looks like my purpuralis

here is my aurata

Thanks for the comments all :) - much appreciated.

Linda - Thanks for the comparison shots- think you are correct, it does look more like purpuralis :) - I'd just left the ID as mint moth on my flickr pic. ( I far prefer using the common names).

Yeah, I agree Brian, especially with moth pics as they can get really tricky, thats how I found out the true ID of both of mine - it was only because I think I initially posted it up with mint moth, someone then ID'd it as one, then another came along and gave the other ID, a discussion then followed and the micro expert positively ID'd it, so thats purely how it came about lol. There are also other colour variations of them, I often get the more browny coloured ones in the garden - so god knows which one that is  (and Im not asking lol)
