How's my lighting?

Read an interesting article from Dalantech on lighting.
Played with ratio on the flash ring and spinning it in different directions, I had a comment the other day that my lighting was too "flat"

Let me know if these are any better.

Lighting looks much better - good work. #1 is quite good. #2 is a bit awkward in the composition - a general rule is to have more empty space in the direction that the Insect is looking in, than behind it. I'd also prefer it vertically displayed, rather than the current horizontal display.
