So I tried my hand at fireworks. This was taken at my grandparents' farm in SD. My cousin's husband put on a little show for us, but unfortunately, it was fairly early in the evening, so the sky is a bit light.
EXIF data should be in the photo, but here it is anyways: 6sec, f/16, ISO 100. 30mm Sigma f/1.4 and Canon 40D. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I was wondering about that, whether it would leave the fireworks unfinished or not.

Something like this? Or should I have kept the original format?

I like the cropped version. Works much better and keeps the eye from flowing down where it do not need to be.

The cropped version is very dramatic.
Love it!

I like the original actually. I like the lightstream shooting up to the explosion. Gives the fireworks scale. Nice stuff, it is unique.

Actually, in this case, it's mostly the great show my cousin's husband put on and the equipment I used! All those blasts happened in the six seconds the shutter was open. Also, I had the awesome 30mm Sig f/1.4 set to f/16, with ISO 100, and manual focus set to infinity, so all I had to do was keep clicking the shutter.
So the votes are mostly with the cropped version, I take it? Maybe I should do a poll...
