After all this debating for the perfect bag, Ive found that there is no perfect bag. So while Im waiting to actually purchase a bag my gear is just kinda out in the open.

So Ive been toying with the idea of having a larger case to hold everything I have now, and future additions. That way I can rely on a smaller messenger bag, or a medium sized backpack for when I go out depending on my needs. As of right now I dont like the idea of having my gear on a shelf or my computer desk, its far too easy for one of my cats to knock it over.

So what are you guys/gals using? Heres the gear I plan on holding in it.

400D w/grip
70-200F4 IS w/hood
50mm 1.8
28-105 3.5-4.5 II
18-50 kit
Charger + batterys
Memory cards, rocket blower and cleaning stuff ETC.

Future:
17-55 2.8IS
10-22
Extention tubes
430EX + quick charger and batterys
300 F4IS or some other lense in the 300-400 range.
1.4x TC
50D (or whatever the 40D successor is called)
Maybe a prime or 2 aswell.
Including all the gear I already have.

I would like for it to be something that is easy access, easy to store. It doesent even have to be a case, or bag just show me what kinda setup you guys use. It could be your top drawer converted with foam inserts or a large B&H box filled with foam peanuts for all I care. I just gotta get these things off my desk before something tragic happens.

Generally they're stored in the last bag I put them in. Ideally, I'd buy a Pelican case to keep things together at home. That may be awhile, though.

Jimmer411,
Hmm.... when I am not lazy, I keep most of my equipment in my large Lowepro photo trekker backpack.

The equipment I more regularly use in in my Lowepro Nova 5 bag. Then there is my quick and light Tamrac bag (just holds camera with my 17-40L or 10-22 and my 28-105 + 1 bat and cell phone :)

However I am usually lazy and there is usually plenty of my stuff on our counter.

I use a Pelican 1624 for home storage. You can see my review on it here: LINK (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=471486)

I have several bags for my gear and use them according to the shooting situation. When my gear is not in a particular bag, then they are stored in 2 Ikea display cases with glass doors for easy viewing and access. I then select the necessary components for each shoot. I also have other gear such as my bags, lighting equipment, and tripods stored in a couple of closets and on the floor. There is no one solution for everything you will amass in this endeavor.

My 40D and lenses are usually in the last camera bag I used. I have a cardboard box for various other sundries in my wardrobe. My backup body (350d) is boxed up in the wardrobe.

Nothing special just keeping it all together where I know where everything is.

Store most of my gear in a Pelican 1510, though the more used stuff stays in the bag (now a Billingham Hadley Large) ready to grab 'n go. Works for me!
