I realized today how much of a pain it is shooting from a boat in wavey water. To say the least, it was too much fun!

Thanks guys! I bounced back and forth between the Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 L and the Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM kit lens.

The first and the last are my picks, great work :)

Great photos! Your view from the boat certainly gives a different perspective than what I captured from the shore.

how much cropping was done?

it seems that the blue angels fly nearer and closer to the audience compared to the Thunderbirds

The Blue Angels will my in FL in Nov and I'm thinking of lens choice...

Thanks guys! It certainly was a challenge with the boat bobbing all over the place.

As for cropping, they were flying low enough, I was pretty much able to capture the airplane within the whole frame, so they really didn't need much at all.

There very well could have been. I saw it sun but my friend saw it sat and said that for a while, there was only 1 solo performing.

On Friday they had an issue with the #4 plane and the #7 had to fill in. The youngest plane they have is 18 years old the things probably require a ton of maintenance. Hopefully some day we will have the F22 Blue Angels!
