Hello all! I have lurked on here from time to time but never actually posted. Just getting into the SLR world and loving it. This site seems a cut above the others!
Came across this taxi down the road from me just over a week ago in London. I was thinking of converting to b&w except for the graff and taxi lamp - what do you reckon?
Oh, and apologies if the image is the wrong size -I am still trying to get to grips with this.

nice photo, maybe a b&w version would be nice, the colored version isnt that interesting, but its still good

Having lived and worked in London my whole life and seeing these taxis everyday, I kind of see it as an old work horse thats finaly come to rest. Great shot !!

Cannibalism alive and well there. Although that Cobra advert on the side is current, so it hasn't been off the road more than six months.
It's a nice shot, but I agree that it's begging for some kind of processing.

Great shot... let me see how it looks desaturated some:)

Thanks for the input guys. I am fairly new to all this, especially post-production techniques.
I have CS2 but need to learn how to desaturate properly (I understand that a simple 'desaturate' on CS2 is not the way to go?)

Nice shot but I think I'd like to see it B&W.

Nice shot. +1 for B&W. I see you've shot low. I may have gone lower and more of an angle, but that's just my taste.
The channel mixer was my favourite for B&W in CS2 along with a strong contrast curve. But it is of course one of many ways.

Another vote for B&W. Could make that shot really nice!

Thank you for your comments all - exactly the reason why I joined this form!
I did want to shoot lower but it was on a narrow street and cars zoomed past every minute of so - I had to get in quick!
I'll have a go at B&W this weekend when I get time, and I think I like the idea of leaving colour in the taxi light.
Blighty - you jest!

Lots of texture in this shot that could be coaxed out. I like the subject matter, though I am not a big fan of tilted photos. Good eye nonetheless. I am glad you are posting after nearly a year though, post some more!

I got bored so here's my quick conversion with a blue & muted yellow tint. A bit of contrast, vignette and dodging & burning.

I prefer the second version, the colour one is a bit 'in your face'.. this is toned down and still remains interesting

Oh cool, thank you for that Martin - looks much better! I will definitely have a play around this weekend. Thank you for the inspiration!

I prefer it mono but without the blue cast (just my opinion). :)
Here is an adaption of Martin's adaption (B+W conversion, straightened a bit and burned) this is the conservative approach. ;)
