Question re Pixma 8500 Profiles

Hi all - quite new to digital photography which has become all-consuming over the past year. Bought a Pixma 8500 printer just before Christmas and it produces great results compared to my somewhat dated Epson Photo Printer.

The issue (as always seems to be the case) is matching the colour on the monitor screen with that delivered by the printer. I use Photoshop Elements 2 for my post processing (although I also have a copy of Photoshop version 5.5 - just that I find Elements easier).

Could any members steer me in the right direction of configuration / settings both in Photoshop and the printer driver which have enabled them to minimise this problem? :confused:

The main reason for the monitor and the prints not matching is failure to calibrate the monitor. When you installed PSE, a program called Adobe Gamma was loaded into your Windows Control Panel. Run the program in the lighting you would normally do your post processing. Follow the instructions on screen. Be sure to give the profile you create a name and save it as your default monitor profile. Windows then does the rest. Once you have done that, you'll be alot closer to what you want.
For instructions on how to use Canon ICC profiles, see the sticky on that topic above. This won't help though if you haven't calibrated your monitor first.

I shall go and calibrate the monitor and then check out the sticky on using Canon ICC profiles.

same problem here...same printer....i will run the gamma prog as well tonight and pickup some canon ink.

FlashGordon, do u always use canon ink?
