Does anyone know of anywhere where I could hire a colourvision Spyder2 in the UK? I want to calibrate my monitors, but I cannot afford to buy one at present (and I would also like to try before I buy).
Thanks for any ideas.
Mark.

To use the Spyder, you also have to install the software that comes with it on your computer. The software needs to remain installed after you've used the Spyder - it includes a small program that loads when your computer boots, and that sets the colours in the video card's LUT (Look Up Table) correctly.
I doubt that the license agreement of the software included with the Spyder allows you to install it on an unlimited number of computers....

Yes, fair point, you are probably right.

Mark, I could not afford Spyder2 either. Have you considered the lower priced ColorPlus? This has been my experience with ColorPlus but I use a G3 and different programs than you. Just a thought. Also, I probably should have used the words hue, tone, saturation and black/gray color mask.:) Oh, ColorVision's ColorPlus ran about US$105.00 from B&H.

Purchased ColorVision (also upgraded to Win XP with SP2). No problems installing or running CV. Just have to accustom myself to a much darker CRT monitor. Checked the color against a printed 8 X 10 in BB, BB Pro, PS5LE and ZB EX 5.0.0.142. The colors and lightness/darkness on the monitor were lighter than the actual photo in BB, BB Pro and PS5LE (not too bad though and a lot better than what I had). In ZB EX 5.0 .. everything was almost dead on. The photo was developed at Wal-Mart. Since I'm neither a pro nor amatuer photographer I am pleased with ColorVision. At least I now know about what the pix will look like when printed. Hope this helped someone.
Now for a question :) or two. In BB and BB Pro should I enable the color monitor profile and install the ColorPlus icm that ColorVision created? Under Raw Conversion I've embedded the Canon G3 - True Color Non-Linear profile. Any other suggestions appreciated.:) Is there any way to get the colors/light/dark closer to actual print in BB, BB Pro and/or PS5LE? Thanks for your help. Gil
