I just joined a local photography club that gets together once every week or 2 and goes to events and shoots, next weekend we are shooting a boat drag race, which should be really cool to shoot, and on the 30th a local fire station is giving us private access to their fire station and firefighters for photo shoots, we are going to make them a calendar with the shots.

I just joined a local photography group that goes out to events together and shoots, they often get exclusive access to different events, you are more than welcome to join if you'd like, you would just have to drive. :eek:

No, unfortunately I haven't been able to see many sites around here between running the farm, working full time and taking classes, but I'll get there someday! ;)

I used to live in Oklahoma.....about an hour and a half SE of Tulsa, near the Ark. border. But I moved last December. Spent 9 months in Australia and currently reside in New Zealand. Green Country is pretty, but you haven't seen green until you visit New Zealand.

It's about 20 minutes west of downton Tulsa or 30 minutes west of I-35.

Bring your gear, we're on the lake and can walk down for some shooting. And we have the crazy duck lady - she's into exotics (fairy tale goose, swan, wood ducks, and some I've never seen!)

Burgers, chicken, and hot dogs provided and probably salad, baked beans, and assorted goodies. Tea, sodas, and coffee as well. Feel free to bring something to share if you like. We've always been the party house, so I have plenty of Chinet and silverware!

Checked the Farmer's Almanac for the weekend of Nov. 1:

1st-3rd Clearing and colder. 4th-7th Continued dry and cold. Clouds increasing by the 7th.

Should work out nicely for what we're thinking! Leaves are thinking about turning, so it might work out well from that perspective as well! We have some lovely vistas of the lake and surrounding hills.

I've been in St. Pete Beach (FL) for the past week, darn it. Luxury hotel on the beach, great weather (80s high, upper 60s lows). Went to a bird sanctuary/shelling beach yesterday - couldn't figure out what to do - shoot or shell.

Worked out an awkward comprimise that was quite humorous!

Found a mangrove island that blue herons and pelicans are NESTING in! I've never seen a heron nest, much less a pelican in a tree! Boy are they funny landing!

Will be back in Tulsa Sunday - hope everyone's ready for next weekend!

There is a place just north of 1st and Elgin downtown that many photographers use to shoot senior pix. It is a brick loading dock with a nice set of metal stairs. Here (http://www.spiveyphoto.com/gallery/6584101_LVVRD#P-1-12) is a shoot I did there.

Disclaimer: This spot is heavily used. Show any Tulsa photog this location and he will say "Oh, gawd, another 1st and Elgin shot". If you aren't from T-Town, it won't matter. There are many other places but that's the only one I can think of offhand.

Chris, welcome to Oklahoma. The Great Salt Plains is a great birding location, especially in migrating season. Lots of places to shoot Buffalo and Longhorn, such as the Tallgrass Prairie preserve by Pawhuska.

Speaking of wildlife, I just went to Sequoyah NWR south of Vian. A beautiful place that is supposed to have lots of migratory birds in the winter. I don't know how many bird there will be, but it's prettier than Holla Bend Ar, which has thousands of birds but it almost two hours farther.
