It appears that you used a straight-on flash shot in a pretty dark environment, and that normally doesn't lead to such great results. The idea of a child being held by its mother is great, but for any kind of emotional connection to take place by the viewer, lighting and mood are extremely important ! You might try redoing this same concept, but have the Mother get the child to engage with her by voice or eye contact, something, maybe have them sitting in front of a window with natural light coming from the side, or possibly a lamp making soft light fall on their faces. Good luck, keep at it, but let your imagination speak through your lens. Hope to see some more of your stuff...Mackroe

OVEREXPOSED!!! Not very flattering poses.........I would've bounced the flash......have you tried any of the lumiquest products?? I think thier pocket bouncer is really good to diffuse flash.
