Part of the terms and conditions is if you upload onto Facebook, those pictures become their property. You agree to that when you sign up as a Facebook member.

I don't see that. The terms says
All content on the Site and available through the Service, including designs, text, graphics, pictures, video, information, applications, software, music, sound and other files, and their selection and arrangement (the "Site Content"), are the proprietary property of the Company, its users or its licensors with all rights reserved.

That would suck, I have watermarks on every photo no matter what, facebook wouldn't have as many users with such a condition. However if you wanted to do this, there is nothing stopping you, just have a caption which includes how to purchase the photo. Develop your own system :)

You guys need to remember:
1. the pictures on Facebook are even smaller than the ones on POTN and numerous other sites - no one could steal a useful JPEG by right-clicking.
Have a look at some of mine if you like : http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=11129&l=ca1f5&id=589964368
2. There are squillions of facebook members posting billions of grotty little phone photos every day. No one is going to find your masterpieces and make money off of them
Facebook is all for fun. sure you get some targeted advertisements - big deal. At least they don't phone my house every night to try sell me stuff. Don't post anything that would embarrass you or your family or your friends and don't let strangers into your Facebook friends list. POTN members are OK though - see the group 'Coolest POTN Memjbers' plus a few others too.

I like facebook. Tiny compressed jpegs that are impossible to steal so people have to ask for better :)
Too bad non-friends can't see them...
