I realize the answer to this is probably staring me in the face but, if so, it's not readily apparent.

In my film camera days, the first thing I would do after the negatives were dry (any format) would be to make contact sheets to use for a variety of purposes. I would like to be able to do the equivalent thing with digital images.

In the case of 35mm, I would print six strips of six images each on an 8X10 sheet of paper, yielding a contact sheet of 36 images.

Is there a convenient way of doing this with digital images - - say on a 8.5 by 11 sheet? I would not be concerned about "final" exposure or color balance of the images - - I just want a catalog of the content of the images.

I am using Photoshop CS. I am far from an expert with that program. I don't know if it has that native ability or whether some other program might be more suitable for this task. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Check on you Photoshop CS menu bar: File>Automate>Contact Sheet II. It will get the job done.

I think most digital photographers keep their "proof sheets" as digital images on their computers using photo cataloguing software like ACDSee, Breezebrowser, Photshop Album, Photo Mechanic, etc.

If you're using Windows XP, you don't need any special software. Just select your images, right click, then choose print and follow the wizard to select ''contact sheet."

With PSCS, click File > Automate > Contact Sheet II.

I know this is an old topic but is there a way to automate this to printing our proofs on our ms word order forms?
