It was mine and my mate's first go at motor racing, him with his Nikon D80 + 18-200 VR and me with my 400D + 55-250 IS, I think we did ok with 0 experience between us!
Right here's a bunch of ones i have processed, the cropping could be better on some but I was in a rush and at work :D

they look ok Alan
Donington is notoriously hard to find decent angles with clean backgrounds.
some of them look as though they may have had a bit too much sharpening, and the white balance looks a bit out in them.
the random old car is a Hillman Avenger :)

Cheers for the advice dave, me and Steve said next year we might come and meet you at brands and get some real-time tips off you if that's ok :D
I can see the white balance is a bit out, I think thats from my PP tbh as I'm not that experienced with it. Do you take out a grey card or anything on the day to use custom WB?

no problem
I shoot auto WB all the time and jpeg, nothing fancy with the way I do things. when I get them on the monitor at home, if they look right they probably are. if they don't, I alter it.
sometimes using the Auto Colour or Contrast etc in Photoshop can ruin your WB.
looking at them again, there are only a couple that look a bit off (to me). 1st one, 3rd and 5th look a little yellow

Well it just so happens that one the 1st/3rd/5th I tweaked the WB because I thought they looked a bit cold, but I see what you mean. I've done these on my laptop at work and tbh the monitor is crap, my home monitor is much better for doing PP. At least I'll know for next time!
I still can't figure out which I like best for PPing, photoshop or lightroom. Some things I do on lightroom because I don't know how to do them in photoshop and vice versa. I could really do with narrowing it down to 1 program to save PPing time, cos it really does take me a while to: boost contrast/colour; sharpen; reduce noise; crop; resize; add border and watermark etc.

I'm with Dave on the WB issues although bizarrely Auto WB has only ever failed me under the Sodium lights at the NEC. Outdoors it's usually spot on so Dave may have hit the nail on the head with the "Auto" adjustments in PS.
The best suggestion i can give is find yourself somewhere better than Donington to practice. Somewhere like Oulton Park or Brands Hatch will give you far more options than our future home of F1....

Indoors, Auto WB can be a bit amusing :D Auto adjustments can always screw you up as well.
Occasionally AWB used to rain on my parade at Brands - through the fence at druids, in the rain with dayglo coloured cars! All the grey track surface, yellow-ish gravel at Paddock and radioactive paint on the car just bummed it up!

Thanks you guys. I adjusted the WB on a few pictures in PP, but because I was on my work's laptop with a dull screen I couldn't see they were so yellow, now I am at home I see exactly what you all mean!
Thing is about different tracks, I live in hull so places like brands and such are a fair hike!
