I am going to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons shortly and I currently have these filters.....

2 stop soft Grad
3 stop soft Grad
3 stop Hard Grad
3 stop ND
Circular PoL.

I am contemplating these....

6 stop ND

3 stop ND Reverse filter

Any suggestions? If I were to only get one of these, which one? Would I be OK with the current line up or would these come in handy as well? I don't have a whole lot of experience with the ND and any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

What brand and what holder?

I have a Lee holder for Wide angle, and only one .6 hard grad. I will be getting more, but I'd say you got plenty since you can stack them.

Yes, the Lee holder with Hitech filters.

You already have more than I planned on getting. I can't see anything being more than 8 stops difference. :)

How many of your current filters do you use very much? What do you intend to do that you'd contemplate getting more filters?

I haven't used them much up to this point, I am adding them now. I have always used the Cir. Polarizer a lot. Since I was going to Yellowstone/GT, I figured now was a good time to add more filters. I do like to shoot waterfalls and I was thinking the 8 stop would come in handy for that and the reverse filter looked awesome on sunrise/sunset shots.

Ah, never thought of using a grad for a water fall. I would think you would want just some ND's if you feel you need to add more to get longer exposures. But that's beyond my experience at this point. I'd like to see the pics when you get back though. :)

If you want to get anything, maybe the reverse grad. Soft will probably be good for the mountains, and you can stack polarizer and 3-stop ND for about 5 stops total. Coupled with small apertures and low ISO you'll get down to a reasonable range for smooth water effects. And you might not even like them when you get them.

Thanks Jon, yeah I was leaning towards the reverse grad, since I can make due with the Polarizer and Grad's I have. Still not sure about the reverse Grad though. I would love to see if anyone has pic's on here using one.
