I over exposed the shot by mistake, then messed about with PS. Some shadows are a bit dark. C&C welcome

Interesting. However, the nose lacks definition on my monitor, giving the impression that it could go on forever.

Unless the original is better than what we are seeing, give it up.
Those highlights will never be brought back.
You did save the original...right.

What's the intended genre of this image? Was it ment to be artful creation? Was it intended to be a real portrait?
If the image was intended to be displayed as art; then burnout areas and the areas without definition are of little significance. The unlrealistic hair color has no consequence either.
If you intended for this effort to be a portrait, then it's probably a lost cause. Neither am I a fan of screwy crops. These crops always remind me of my mistakes in the earlier days of film.
As an exercise in post processing and creative art, I like it. I like it more than most abstracts I've seen.
