Yeah i was going for "ghost night fishing" but it didnt quite sound right :)
and no we were there for 2 hours 9-11pm and didnt get a bite but there were seals around, so we blamed them for scaring away the fish. ha ha

nice!
if you don't mind sharing... what was your method of attaching the camera to the pole?
sorry I can't access the EXIF data from here, what were you using on this one?

30 sec ex, i have no cable for my 40d yet :(
no mount, no tripod, turn the camera upside down and put it on my wooly hat at the base of the rod. there wasnt supposed to be anyone in the shot but my mate jumped up when he thought he had a bite. He didnt though.
10-20, 400 iso 30secs f11- no thought in those settings really sorry

oh thats great thanks! you did a great job holding it still for a 30" exposure! and I actually like the person in the shot. it takes it from an abstract fishing-pole shot to a great action shot :)
I really want that lens even more now :)

For no tripod a 30 second exposure and the sharpness on the rod I'd say you did a very nice job. That pole must be pretty rigid to not move whilst your buddy was hoping around the boat.
Great capture.
