I shot this from my hotel window yesterday morning and just wanted to know what type of ship it was. This was taken in San Diego, CA.

Looks like one of the new designs of Frigate with reduced radar signature ???

If I am reading the hull marking correctly, I believe this is the USS New Orleans, a San Antonio class amphibious transport dock.

Yeah I think it was Star of India. I remember driving past it on the way to the hotel the night before.

Looks like a Lewis and Clark Class (Dry Cargo/Ammunition Ships - T-AKE). Can't make out a hull number to tell you which one though.

Yep, Star Of India... I was part of her crew from 1999-2002.

Was the Star of India the same ship that used to be in Philly and was then known as the Mosholu (sp?)
If it was the same, she's a beauty and was (belive it or not) a killer place to take a first date for dinner and drinks.
Really helped set a great mood for the evening... <Evil Grin>
