View Full Version : Sunrise OVER Pittsburgh

We were level at 41,000 feet while over Pittsburgh. I grabbed the Canon 20D and snapped the picture. Venus is rising in the eastern sky as well. I have reduced the size so it is a smaller download.

Pretty amazing shot.

Kinda saw the same thing when i was flying to South Africa, sunrise at about 4am absolutly beautiful.

Great shot, was it hand held.

Yes, it was hand held on no flah auto mode. I guess being the Captain has its privileges.

Great shot! How did you do that? Everytime I try a low light/night shot from an airplane the lights on the ground get all blurred or the high ISO makes the photo ugly with noise. What were your settings? What ISO did you use?


That's really clear too. This cold weather makes for great photo ops. It's cloudy almost everyday in PIT.

Well, I don't mess with settings when flying. I just set it to automatic and let it fly. They generally come out well. At 41,000 the ground is not moving that fast in relative motion so not a lot of blur.
