I wouldn't be asking for help finding a monopod except for the fact that I am a tall guy. I am about 6'7'' (81'') and can't seem to find a monopod much taller than 68'' that isn't really expensive (I am not looking to spend more than $100 with a ball head). I need it to be at least 76'' since the camera adds height to the viewfinder and I want to be able to shoot sports and other things for long periods of time without bending. Any help is appreciated.

Check this (http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/Gitzo-GM3550-6x-Carbon-Fiber-Monopod-Review.aspx) out. 75.6" tall.

I wish I could afford a $300 monopod. Thanks for the help though! I guess I can start saving if nothing else.

Maybe you can find a similar aluminum one. More weight but less price..

Check out the Induro MXA45 - 76.5 in.,2.2lbs, aluminum - could be
just the ticket. (didn't look up price, but would bet its less than a Gitzo)

I would highly advise you do that if its a possibility! Once you go Gitzo youll never go back :)

How about making a $1.00 special. Tie a string to a screw or piece of metal and then attach to your camera. I use a rapid connect or similiar attached to the camera to tie the string to then drop the end with the screw on the ground and hold firm with your foot. I dont always want to lug my stuff around and I find this quite easy and yes it does work. The tight string will steady your camera and this work pretty good non professional pleasure situations. I saw it on the internet a few months back so if anyone reading this has the link I'm sure others maybe interested.

Search on "string tripod" in the title.
