Hi all,

Some bad news here. I had some stolen gear but I have most of the boxes. I am trying to put together a serial number list but I wanted to verify which number is the serial number. For instance my BG-E1 Grip has a label on the box with A EAN code (960999191560) and this number (8865A001[AA]). Is the later the serial number?

The receipt from my digital rebel has a similar number (8861A003) but the warranty card states the serial is 0560147193.

IF you could tell me which numbers I should write down that would appear on the body I would be greatful. Then I will send these off to the local pawn shops.

Cheers and Thanks,

Vince

My BG-E1 box has the same EAN number as you have posted and also the 8865A001[AA] above it. It also has a UPC code............none of these 3 numbers are the number on my grip :(

Thanks for checking, are there any numbers that appear on the grip?

I am not sure what the EAN number is but I doubt it is a serial number.

The grip box itself does not have the serial numbers on them like you'll see on the Canon Printers, and Camera boxes. The Serial number is located right on the Battery Grip itself ( And Usually Pre-Printed onto the Warrenty Card ). Its the little barcode on the top of the grip. Being a Canon Rep, I have to look at these kind of numbers all day. :D

With my Rebel, the Serial Number listed on the Warranty card matched the number on the bottom of the body (sitcker by the screw mount).

Thanks guys. I will send a list off to the allt he local pawn shops and Keep an eye out. The good news is that I had all the equipment covered under insurance. So if the stuff doesn't turn up in 30 days, then I can replace it.

Cheers,

Vince

May I ask how it was stolen? Theft stories are fun to hear most of the time ^_^

Probably poor taste being as it has been less than seven hours since. My fiance and I walked across the road and back, gone for a total of less than 20 minutes. They gained entry stole my camera backpack and a coin jar. In the process they walked by my violin, stereo, two computers and tools. They also opened all the cupboard doors in the kitchen.

They were very random, I am assuming they grabbed the backpack as a carrying case for the coinage (likely less than $5 unless they noticed the $100 dollar bill jammed up inside it) and got a bonus.
