While not necessarily an easy read for everyone; The 580exII manual covers all the functions, custom functions, modes and adjustments.

Is there something specific you are looking for?

cant find my manual, just trying to get something with the custom functions.

There is a photocopied .pdf file loose on the net somewhere. I don't recall where I located it.

There are 13 custom functions.
0 - distance indicator display; 0=meters, 1-feet
1 - auto power off; 0=enable, 1=disabled
2 - modeling flash; 0=enabled(dof preview button), 1=enabled(test firing button), 3=disabled
3 - FEB auto cancel; 0=enabled, 1=disabled
4 - FEB sequence; 0=0,-,+ 1= -,0,+
5 - flash metering mode; 0=E-TTl II/E-TTL, 1=TTL, 2=External metering: Auto, 3=External metering: Manual
6 - quickflash with continuous shot; 0=disabled, 1=enabled
7 - test firing with autoflash; 0=1/32 power, 1=full output
8 - AF assist beam firing; 0=enabled, 1=disabled
9 - Auto zoom for sensor size; 0=enable, 1=disabled
10 - slave auto power off timer; 0=50 minutes, 1= 10 minutes
11 - slave auto power off cancel; 0=within 8 hours, 1=within 1 hour
12 - flash recycle with external power source; 0=flash and external power, 1=external power source
13 - Flash exposure metering setting; 0=speedlite button and dial, 1=speedlite dial only

To bring up the C-fn. menu press and hold the LCD panel illuminator/C-fn. button for 2 seconds.

C-fn 5-2 can be used with the 1D Mk III. Others usually require C-fn. 5-3 when not using C-fn. 5-0.
