Thank you everyone! I really appreciate your kind comments! This is the second time we've seen the Raptor demo. It's a fun plane to photograph, great performance, very interesting lines, and makes lots of vapor trails:-)

Excellent series!! I particular like 2, 4, and 5. Were those all taken with a 100-400?

Thank you again! These were all taken with the 100-400L on a 40D. It's the only long lens I have available at the moment (trying to save up for a 300 f2.8 though:D)

The Hawaii Air Guard and Air Force are currently in transition. I'm looking forward to photographing them.

Thank you everyone! Congrats on getting F-22's locally reneethomas and kaialii, you'll have fun photographing them, they're very photogenic planes:-)

Where where you in the 100-400 range?

The plane was doing it's demo in the airspace over the runway at Oshkosh. They have limited airspace available there (that's why you'll never see the Blue Angels or Thunderbirds there:() so they couldn't perform their full demo. I was getting jostled around in the middle of the crowd, so the focal distance changed from shot to shot. Pictures #3-6 were all at 400mm, picture #1 was at 150mm, and picture #2 was at 235mm. I'd like to shoot with primes, but that zoom can be handy at airshows sometimes.

You won't see them do their full show, but you never know who will be at EAA. This was an unscheduled fly-in from the Blue Angels from Wright-Patt AFB in '06

Thank you for the correction...and by the way, really nice shots! That's what I get for getting facts from the local TV morning news show:oops:
