Hi.. I am pretty new to this forum.. and just went digital last year..

Our town has a very historic downtown, and as of late, all of the street and store fronts are being modernized and restored, yet within strict guidelines to preserve the original look. With that being said.. I would like some opinions on the photos.. The original is listed first.. the latter ones i tried sepia toning and b&w, as well as removing current day street signs and lighting.. Do these "work" for anyone.. or are they all crap.. LOL.. i'm going back and forth on it myself..

thanks ahead of time for any comments...

# 3 but not quite so much USM. Good stuff. I wish Charlotte had preserved some of it's heritage. Downtown is all steel, glass, and new fangled crap. They are saving an old facade here and there in the city but too little too late.

Great shots - I like #3 best. I am into historic preservation professionally and always appreciate someone taking an interest in old buildings. Good to hear it is happening there. Get out and take lots of pictures of buildings not yet rehabilitated. Get actively involved with preservation groups if you are not already. Save our past!

I like #3 the best. I do agree with Charlseu on a little less USM

I sincerely appreciate all the comments :D.. I had been fighting the USM back and forth trying to keep the signs on the buildings to a point where they were easily readable without making everything else look bad.. I wanted to shoot this at night in the winter time.. and I'm finding out just how difficult that can be..
