Hello All.
I have about 500 edited images that I need to burn to CD. I used Photoshop CS and carelessly saved most of the files as PSD or PPD files whatever photoshops default file is. Now I need to convert them all to Jpeg or tiff for the client. How do I do this??
I know there has to an easy way to fix this and it is just starring me in the face... or at least I hope so..... I'm just trying to figure out this crazy Digital world. Thanks for all your help

Write an action to load the file and save it as a jpg. Then you just select all the images you want in the file browser, choose batch, then choose your action, etc. There should be loads of tutorials on the net, I read it in a book I bought.

Also if you PSD are 16bit files then you will also need an action to down sample them into 8bit since JPG is only 8bit.

I beleive this happens automatically in the jpeg conversion,.. as you say jpeg is only 8bit,. so by converting to jpeg.. ;)

If your .PSD files have layers in them, you'll have to collapse them before converting to JPG (I think). I know I can't save .PSD files as JPEG without collapsing them, but that might be me.

If the color space is set to Adobe RGB, you might want to convert them to sRGB, since there are a lot of JPEG viewers out there that don't pay attention to the attached ICC color profile.

Save for web might automatically make them 8 bit, but save as won't convert from 16 to 8 bit. Also, save for web removes exif data, whereas save as doesn't.

I am so new to photoshop. How do I make an action to save as Jpeg. Thanks everyone for all your help. Also I know this was dumb of me, but I erased the crw version of the pic. Does this mean I have to redo all the pics?? Thanks again for all your help.
