My biggest weakness is Lighting, after reading and watching video it still doesn't make any sense to to me....

The images taken with my 430EX pointed @ 45 Degrees come out very dark in my apartment, i have low ceilings... here is one image:

though i think this one came out good!

Here is another with the flash pointer Directly at me...

What am i doing wrong? Do i need a Diffuser? a Stofen?

Edit: Sorry, i have the CAnon 40D with the 28-135 lens and a Canon 430EX flash!

Try pointing the flash strait up instead of at 45 degrees. A majority of the time light comes from above us, so if you are looking for that natural, non-flashed look, get it right up on the ceiling. Also think about a bounce card on the back of the flash, this will provide catch light for your eyes and face.

I would avoid your last item at all costs.....

and recommend this one: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/32580-REG/LumiQuest_LQ931D_ProMax_System.html

The Lumiquest products work great, store easy and flat - but also work better with a bracket.
