5 minutes ago, note the roads have not even been plowed yet, and about 12 inches came down over night, and its still comming down.

"The Sun" is generally the answer to that question IMO.
We're going to be getting some of this white crap starting tonight through tomorrow.
Today
Partly cloudy early...then becoming mostly cloudy. A chance of snow showers early this afternoon. A chance of snow late. Highs around 13. North winds 5 to 10 mph...becoming northeast 10 to 15 mph this afternoon. Chance of snow 50 percent.
Tonight
Snow...heavy at times. Blowing and drifting snow causing whiteout conditions at times. Very windy. Lows around 10 above. Northeast winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph...increasing to 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 50 mph after midnight.
Sunday
Snow in the morning...then a chance of snow in the afternoon. Total snow accumulation of 20 to 30 inches. Very windy with highs around 15. North winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. Wind chill values as low as 19 below.

he gave up right there, shut off the car got out, problem is he's on the wrong side of the road, ( no parking on even days, for snow plowing ).

20 to 30" !!!!!!!
Wowo./ last night local was saying 12" max... I wonder if it's changed for here,. or if this is just the difference between here and an Hour further North? (which is perfectly possible of course)

Nope.. 20 to 30 here too now!!!!! :shock:
If that does happen... it will be the heaviest snowfall we have had in RI since '78.... (the greatest two weeks of my childhood!)
I guess it's time to brak out the arctic photo gear!

There's no way that I'm going out in crap like this. Been there, done that. You're in Chicago, so I'm sure you've seen snow "falling" horizontally.
