I think so, but I will leave it up to you.

Three weeks ago I made this shot (story in THIS THREAD (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=52683))

http://www.richardlindley.co.uk/images/light0002.jpg

I was happy with it, but not really happy enough. I kept looking at it and seeing the need for improvement. Things I didn't like, and I wanted to try and improve it. Fortunatly for me the viewpoint is just under one third of a mile from my house so when conditions looked better this morning I re-visited. I chose a different viewpoint but only be about 300 yds.

Today I made this shot

Was it worth going back today? Comments very welcome and thanks for looking.

The steam plumes certainly give it a more dramatic feeling. I'd say it was worth the trip back :-).

Very much so. I really like the second shot. the plumes of smoke are definitely more dramatic in this shot. GOOD JOB.

I think it was worth the trip back for sure... the plumes and lighting have completely changed the feeling of the photo, much more dramatic, and the plumes lead you into the picture too.

That said, I still think that the original pic is a keeper too... i think of it as the sleepy industry ready to wake up [due to knowing it's a dawn shot] or possibly the demise of industry, quietly going into history... more thought provoking for me.

I see these from the trafic jam every time I go to Nottingham (I have an Office in Castle Wharf and a son at Nottingham Uni), and every time I say to myself, "I must come back here with the camera". I think I will now

What if you had gotten the second one first and the first one second, whould you still think it was worth the trip back? :D

I'll go back to a place that I think has lot of photo-tential or that I enjoy shooting at alots of times. Sometimes I get better shots, sometimes not as good as the others. But in most cases something is going to be different, lighting, sky, plants, etc, or in the cases of the waterfalls I shoot, the water level and flow.

By the way, I like the 2nd shot better than the first. The first was just, so-so, but the second one has a lot more impact. But I bet there are even better shots ahead if you keep going back.

Ther is such a big difference between thes shots - both are great - that I'd say you've got a few more trips to make. :)

Thanks for your commetns everyone.

I've waited a day to come back to see if I still like the second as much, it does had more drams as you said - but as Jim said - I think there is still more potential from that scene.

mjordan, that is a very good question. In the long run the answer would inevitably be yes - but it would not be quite so high on my list of priorities.

neil, bring the camera, nottingham has a lot of photo potential!

Thans again everyone :)
