Had my IXUS 40 for just a week when the LCD cracked when it was in my pocket - gutted! I've read lots about home LCD replacement but haven't seen anything on the IXUS 40, SD300. It's a big, nice looking LCD, I reckon it will cost me the same as the camera if I got to a repair place. Also not sure on the ability to buy parts direct in Australia. No diagrams on Microtools website either. Any suggestions, contact or help you may have would be very much appreciated - I'd love to save my camera - it was superb! I know, I know, LCD protector......

I really sorry to hear that your lcd got busted Burnie; but, after reading your post, was wondering if screen protectors actually protect from the screen being cracked. I was under the impression that they might help prevent against scratches only. Is there a stronger type of protector for this type of camera?

i read somewhere that there is a heavy plastic type protector that may help. i just got a replacement camera after mine cracked on me last weekend. luckily it was still under replacement warrenty at dell (less then 21 days). canon should be able to replace it under warrenty as long as the camera has not been abused.
i did read somewhere that someone replaced a sd200 lcd and it was much more difficult then the s400 that has been written about a lot lately. i think they did get the job done though. if i find it i will post a link.

A few weeks ago I cracked the LCD on my SD200. I decided to replace it myself so I ordered a new LCD from Canon. When I got it, I was able to remove the old LCD and install the new one fairly easily. The only problem is that after I put the camera back together it won't turn on.
Anybody have any idea what could be wrong? Any help would be appreciated.

I have the same pb, could open the ixus40 replace the screen and mount evrything back, with the camera refusing to turn on.
I red somewhere its due to a fusee wich has been "burn" by manipulating the open camera with the natterie inside.
I dont know how to replace this fuse, iam looking for someone who knows about this
Sorry for my english, iam french
