I have been reading this forum and find it extremely helpful.

I just (last night) purchased a Canon A40 digital camera and also a 128 meg card. Needless to say I was up all night shooting varios photos. I had no trouble with getting the photos transferred to my PC. But now I would like to make changes, do some cropping, special effects, cut out backgrounds of photos, etc. I am not sure what program to use for this. . . . should I be using Photoshop or Photo Impression? Is one better than the other??

Secondly, what is the best method of long term storage f these photos, to pass down to children and grand children? Should I be writing them to a CD and storing away. I see some people in the forum have posted some very nice "photo albums" of their photos. What program is used to do this?

Any advise wopuld be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi

I always find Paint Shop Pro very good for photo editing - there isnt a lot you cant do with your photos when you use this. As for long term storage, I would suggest burning onto CD and keeping it safe!

I had tried using paint shop pro, and I must admit that the program is user friendly. However after I edited the image, the exif data cannot be read anymore. Any way to prevent this from happening?

A friend recommended me to use adobe photoshop if I want to preserve the exif data, but they are not user friendly.
