I currently use a 2GB CF card in my 300D. No problems.

I have heard somewhere that the 300D will not accept CF cards bigger than 2GB, something about file allocation tables. Is this true?

I use CF because I photograph action scenes (airplanes). I am an outright amateur at photography so starting with the 300D and work up!

The other side of the question will the 300D accept large(capacity) microdrives, if such things exist.

I intend to be away from home for several days at airshows, so storage of images on the cards is a solution for several days shooting!

Many thanks.

Many 300D owners use 4 GB MicroDrives with no problems.

If You are away from home for several days I would recommend more smaller cards than fewer bigger cards, especially when it comes to MicroDrives. Yes most users will tell You that microdrives are just as reliable as regular cf cards however it does contain delicate moving parts.

I do have a 2 GB microdrive along with a 2 GB cf and a 1 GB CF + a few more smaller cards. In a tight spot I will use the microdrive as the last one.

I've heard that the Digital Rebel will accept the microdrives, upto 4GB. See this review:

Aslo, the DR supports the FAT32 system, which means thta it can address upto 2^32 address locations which comes to 4,294,967,296, which is 4.2 GB ;)
Hope this helps :)

I do not beleive there is currently a card made who's capacity would exceed the camera's limit to address it.

I've had good results with the RoadStor, a device that copies the contents of my CF cards to CDs. Battery powered, portable, I paid about $200 on sale. I've had it for maybe two years now and it's come in real handy.
