Ok...this is just something that bugs me. Why can't canon make a neck strap that is longer? All of my film camera straps and my 20D strap are adjusted all the way out and the camera hangs just at my chest. I would like to have it hang 6-8 inches lower. I have another camera that I use a Tamrac strap with and it has the quick clips as well as the strap and that gives it the extra length that I like. I want to keep using the original Canon strap but it's just not long enough. Maybe it's just me.

The strap's length is fine for me, too long even. If you don't like it can you buy a longer one from a camera store?

why would you want it longer? that only increases the chances of it banging into something, especially when you bend over...
i havnt heard many people praise the comfort of the canon strap either... so my advice is to buy another brand... unless you NEED to have CANON DIGITAL on it so everyone can see what you have

Personally I prefer wrist straps. The bulky neck strap that came with the 300D is always in the way. I just want to put a wrist strap on it. That way if it gets bumped out of my hands, it won't fall to the floor. If it isn't in my hands, it is in the bag. I don't like carrying things around my neck.
The Canon neck strap goes down to my stomach, but I'm short.

Over on Sportshooter.com there is a pic of a guy with canon bodies, L lenses, and Nikon straps. Maybe Nikon finally got something right? The Canon Boys were having a lot of fun with it.

I find my Op/Tech strap much better and much more comfortable than the original Canon strap.

I like the original Canon neck strap, its length has never bothered me (I'm quite tall, about 186 cm). A friend of mine was using some neoprene strap with his 10D, but in the end he went back to the original Canon strap.

I have a neckstrap that says Vero-Vellini on two spots, so I guess that's the brand, which I bought at Ritz Camera at the local mall. It's got a nice soft neoprene neck portion which makes carrying the camera for long periods very bearable.
It holds it just above my belt (I'm 5'11") and is terrific.
Personally I have no need to have the Canon name showing prominently -- I know what I've got and that's all that matters -- comfort is far more important to me.
