Anyone know the relative merits of a RC2 vs RCO QR designs for the head?

id go for the RC0 out of those heads..i have the RC4 both have the bulleyes level the RC4 have a bigger plate btw

The RCO has two spirit levels Vert/Hor, while the RC only has the Horizontal level...

Do you have a RC4? it has both vert/Hor levels

The RC4 QR plate is HUGE, and will get in the way when handholding a 35mm SLR sized camera with the plate attached. I use the 488RC2 on my main tripod, a 486RC2 on my monopod, and the same QR system for other heads that I own. I keep the 3157 QR plates (the RC2 QR plate) on all my cameras, all my long lenses that have tripod mounts, and on my spotting scope. The plates don't get in the way of everyday use of any of them.

yep it is big, but with the Batteiry grip its not a problem for me

:oops: I didn't know we were discussing the RC4, I thought it was only the RC2 488 head and the RCO version of it... The RC4 has 2 spirit levels as mentioned in the Manfrotto catalouge page 28... No, I don't have the RC4 as I use my Uniloc head on my Manfrotto 055 Pro tripod... The head comes from my Uniloc Major 2300 System for which I have several quick release plates making it very easy for me to change cameras...
