We've been in Eric's junk shop a hundred times (it's actually a treasure shop but don't tell anybody) but today I went in with my G3 and snapped a few of the things.

Here's an African woman with a basket on her head.

A little doll kind of tossed on a shelf.

A floppy-eared rabbit sitting on a highboy bonnet.

A proud row of meat grinders.

A sad doll in a corner. She must have been naughty.

A cast iron snail. f/2.0. 1/500 sec

The Mad Hatter's teapot.

We bought one of these treasures. Guess which one. :)

lovely pictures Jim

funny that they named it a junk shop as you would imagine it would put some people off
treasure shop sounds good

I love the look of the pictures
kind of old fashioned charm
lovely colours

the grinders we used to call mincers
as far as I can remember
http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif

seems to be a few of them there
is there no use for them today ?
they mince steak really good.

http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif
probably too hard to clean for most today

the dolls look good.

http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif except the sad one in the corner and we can't see her face.

though not too worn out yet ) :
(with love )

the teapot is very unusual and ideal for a mad hatter's party
lot of work went into it

you ask which was bought by you two today

the floppy eared rabbit ?
(am I way off beam?)

well then

~ the cast iron snail ~

beautiful detail on it

and it's small enough to enjoy it without it being ' in the way' at this stage of your lives ?

Hi Marie,

If he called it a treasure shop it would be a letdown. :( As a junk shop it never disappoints. :) Eric also doesn't sell "antiques". It's just "stuff". Fact is, his "stuff" is better than a lot of "antique" shops around here. And much cheaper.

Do you still use your mincer? I remember my mother using one about 50 years ago. Haven't seen it since.

I will let you know which item we bought in a day or so. :)

Interesting series, nice work.
I would put my money on the Rabbit.

I like the meat grinders. They look cool all lined up like that. I like the idea of shooting at junk/antique shops. I'm a newbie and I've been trying to think of somewhere to shoot indoors. I'm getting tired of freezing my hands taking outdoors right now. Thats a good idea.

Is that Pink Floyd, Iowa?

Nah, it's not Floyd(one of the best)...it's the rabbit in the series that I think he brought home from the "junk" shop.

We bought the snail. It's actually an incense burner - the shell lifts off the body.

You don't need a fat wallet in Eric's. ;)

You got me going, Iowa. Gimme another sentence from the song.

The sign says "Buying and Selling", Stoney. Take something down there and they just might by it. Then you could get yourself one of those meat grinders. Make your own steak burgers. Mmmm.

We've taken care of everything, the words you read, the songs you sing, the pictures that bring pleasure to your eyes! Name the band that does this song!

Yes? :)

No? :(

I thought it was interesting that most of those who took a guess picked the rabbit, with one for the teapot. And your second choice of the snail. Seemed to be an "Alice in Wonderland" theme to the picks. :) (My community theatre is doing "Alice" soon. I'll have post some pix from that one. :) )

(Off topic, but somehow related, have you seen the film "Finding Neverland" with Johnny Depp? Wonderful movie!)

I guess a lot thought the rabbit needed a home more then the snail
also many don't like snails to look at.

the rabbit is prettier too http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_cool.gif

I never saw that film you mention
must be good if you liked it

the only 'neverland' I did see ( on Tv )was Michael Jackson's

http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif

(I have a picture on the wall of 'alice in wonderland '
my daughter received it as a gift years ago and does not seem to want it
so I just hung it up in a bedroom)
