Got up to go out today to shoot some pics for my portfolio, and its absolutely bombing it down outside, I don't know what to do now.
Im guessing you can't take your camera out in the rain so does anyone have any suggestions?? I had big plans for this weekend

Debbie,,, do what I often do.. Sit in a cafe with a coffee, bump your ISO up to 800ISO and shoot whatever is going on.. Converting to mono can also work in this situation..

Put the camera in a garbage bag with holes cut out for the lens (make sure you use a filter to keep the rain out of the front element) and viewfinder eye piece. Large garbage bag to cover your body is optional. ;)

Back in my point-and-shoot days, i would put gaiters, a sweater, and pants on and take an umbrella out to photograph the rain. As long as the wind was down, I could hold the umbrella and use two hands to focus. If it wasn't, though, both the camera and I would get wet with the umbrella flying around everywhere.
For a DSLR though, if this happened again, I would get a bigger umbrella and get someone to walk with me since the DSLR is so darn big.

Build your own lightbox and have lots of fun shooting things in it. http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=281524&highlight=diy+lightbox
Its amazing what you can do indoors for about US$30.00 :D
