Hi
I am new to stock photography. I have uploaded a couple of pictures in Alamy. Getting passed the quality control seems to be ok (uploading the old pictures) for now but there is no sell.

So I began to wonder what actually sells there? What type of picture people mostly buy from Stock sites.

Is there any experienced and successful stock photographer who would be interested to give me a beginning idea?

many thanks,

You might want check out the AlamyPro Yahoo group. From what I see it is mostly travel shoots, far off places; seems like a lot of magazines and text books. This might just be what I've seen people saying they sold.

Hi,

I don't have it, but I'm sure if you go to http://groups.yahoo.com/ and do a search for Alamy, you'll find it.

What has sold for me:
1) Photos of everyday things, like fruits and vegetables on plain backgrounds.
2) People expressing certain moods on plain backgrounds (model released, of course)

They won't let anybody in without already being accepted by Alamy, and a whole list of other rules.

I can appreciate the desire to keep it serious, but seems a bit overkill.
