View Full Version : Unable to take pics in raw

I've been taking pics in raw for a while and now suddenly I can't.
If I go to Image Quality in my 40D and choose raw + jpeg, I get two jpegs when I download, and if I choose just raw I end up with a bmp file.
What have I done wrong?
Do I have to restore the default settings in my camera?
Please help!

Which program is telling you they're .bmp files?

Either download with EOS Utility (bundled with camera) or with a card reader ($15 - $20 and recommended).

Go to the Canon site for your camera and download the RAW codec for your operating system.

I gather you were able to view them before? if so, sounds like what poloman said:

Sorted out.
Downloaded the pics last night with Bridge and I got the Raw pictures.
After downloading with Bridge, I finally get the extension CR2 in Windows Explorer.
It seems that the problem was dragging the pictures directly from Canon to a folder in Windows Explorer.
Thanks all.
