One of my first few times at HDR. If I sent someone the three image files, could they try and work their magic on an HDR? I would like to see what others come up with! I want the image to look real, rather than a painting like the HDR looks like.

evenflow, nice shots, but I'm most impressed with #3.
Even though #3 has a slight color cast, it is technically perfect. No noise. Tack sharp. exposure rocks.
What equipment are you using?

Thanks for the comments. I wanted to capture the "old" look of the master lock. It's old, yet still does its job.
I'm using my Canon Rebel XT and the kit lens. I was thinking about getting the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II. Do you think it would make that much improvement in my photos?
Thanks again.

evenflow, I use the same equipment as you, but my results have never been even close to your #3 without extensive photoshop procs. Do mind revealing your post-processing process?

I like #3 as well, but I don't see the Dynamic Range. It looks like a single photo without any highs or lows that I won't expect.

#1 is too intense for my liking.
#2 Zalman FTW!
#3 the focus, texture and colour is good, but I dont find it that interesting. Sorry.

#1 - Not a fan. It's HDR but there are harsh shadows under the rocks and along the tree line. also the coloring is splotchy which might be because of a low quality jpeg but looks more like HDR software issue.
#2 - I'd crop it on the left to get rid of the case edge. Overall impression is that it's OK. I don't think anyone who isn't interested in computers will love it but I like the look personally.
#3 - Nice picture but I don't see any HDR element to it either.
