View Full Version : First wedding. Quick question about a photo!

So today was my first wedding, and I'm in the process of going through a ton of photos. This was one of the first ones uploaded, so I decided to open it. And turns out I think I had the aperture too high and so their hands are not in focus. But my question is does this bother you? I know I shouldn't have cut off the grooms elbow, but I can't change that now!

Thanks for any input! :)

what does the amount of money he did or didn't get paid have anything to do with his question?

the DOF does not bother me know if the hands were sharp and eyes soft that would bother me.

Why does that matter?

Hi there, here's your photo with a crop, then an oval softened selection with an outer blur. Simple alterations can make a big difference. Always take more photo than you think you need, better to be able to crop down than lose a bit of the picture like the mans elbow.
By the way the hands being slightly out of focus don't really matter too much in my opinion the main focus should be on the faces, lovely photo!
Hope this helps a bit :)

Thanks suejin! That crop looks great! I hadn't done anything to the original picture other than some saturation, but I love the crop! :)

Hi, here's another idea if they want anything other than straight prints. Again cropped then sepia toned apart from the bouquet and a soft blurred edge as before :)

I never take anything personally (advice or comments) from someone who has never posted an image on the forums. The focus is on the faces and the expressions. Besides if they like it you could have gotten thousands or free who cares but them?

The crop presented here is much better....the selective colouring plus sepia is hard on my eyes... ;)

Enjoy!

We are our own worst critics. I have been stopped many times by my wife from deleting images. She always says, "They will love that one". Also, it is not out of focus, it is "Soft Focus".

maybe if you put a vignette on the photo, it will make the OOF hands not look so obvious
