I bought the S40 recently - have probably used it 40 times.

Recently I've found that when I switch to 'movie' mode - rather than film a short vid - the camera simply takes a photo.

Does anyone know if this is a fault of the camera, or the 'operator'.

I'm tempted to send it back under warranty - but thought I should check to see if others know of an easy-fix.

I had a similar problem early on, which involved turning the camera off in 'auto' mode - but finding that wehen I turned it back on - it went straight into multi-frame mode, but appears to have fixed itself - I'm wondering if its possessed ?

Can I check whether the multi-frame mode you mentioned is stitch mode? Anyway, some of us had had the same problem when using the auto mode. It goes to stitch mode by itself. Just return the camera or send it to service center, it is the body problem.

Yes it was the 'stitch mode'.
